During the COVID-19 crisis, church leaders have worked conscientiously to ensure we present the best possible worship experience while following health requirements.  Filming worship led from the sanctuary has been conducted with the utmost effort to ensure appropriate physical distancing.  Now it’s clear that we will likely be living with pandemic restrictions for the foreseeable future.  In consideration of the safety of our worship leaders and to more clearly demonstrate that everyone should avoid going out into public unless absolutely necessary our worship leaders will now be leading worship from their homes.

Livestreamed and local access cable broadcasting of worship at the usual Sunday 10:30 a.m. worship time will continue as usual.  However, beginning with today’s service, you’ll notice some changes to how worship is presented because we’ll be using a videoconferencing tool to “gather” worship leaders for live filming together.

This method of worship presentation isn’t perfect.  You may notice some delay in the shifting of video between worship leaders.  There may also be times when the video and audio are somewhat out of sync.  While we become more accustomed with this new method, there will likely be some trial and error until we find what works best.  And there are some limitations, too, such as not being able to broadcast audio from more than one worship participant at a time.  This will mean that while music is played you will not be hearing the voices of additional worship leaders.  And, of course, we will not have the benefit of hearing glorious organ music.

There are some enhancements that will come from this shift, however.  Not the least of which is that we will be able to have different and additional worship leaders for our services.  We expect that we’ll get even more creative with this new method as time goes on.  In the meantime, we’ll be listening for your feedback about what is and isn’t working well for you.

Worship is at the very center of our life together as a congregation, as well as being at the heart of our call to proclaim and embody the good news of Jesus in the world.  Church leaders remain committed to ensuring that we can do that well.  Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding as we seek to do what is best for our worship leaders and right for our community while remaining a church that gives high priority to worship together as the Body of Christ.
