Teresa Iodice - Preschool Director
Teresa grew up in a large, loving family of nine. She loved attending school and constantly talked about many of the lessons she learned. Teresa spent a lot of time creating fun activities to entertain her younger siblings and neighborhood friends. She anticipated that she would someday become a teacher, but instead of pursuing teaching, she chose to attend college earning an undergraduate degree in business administration.
Teresa began her career as a human resource administrator for a small software company and then joined an accounting firm as a time management auditor. After marrying her high school sweetheart, she embraced family traditions and considered working with young children. She decided to return to college, completed undergraduate studies in early childhood education, and taught special needs children.
As a mother of four young children and a desire to follow her calling, she established Over the Rainbow Home Daycare in 1989. She provided learning experiences for children that helped support each child’s development in a multitude of ways. Children had opportunities to explore their surroundings, grow in friendships, have fun while learning, and recognize their achievements. With the growing demand for quality childcare, she founded Together We Grow Child Care Services in 1994 and expanded her program. Her center was voted number one in town for multiple years and was one of the first group daycare centers in the state to socialize and educate multi-age group children in a caring and nurturing environment. In addition, her pilot program participated in the development of new state requirements and regulations.
While working over 30 years in education, Teresa has served on dozens of community committees, councils, and boards. She has witnessed childcare programs in action or inaction and has faced the good, the bad, and the ugly of performance. After creating two successful early childhood programs, she became Preschool Director of the First Congregational Church in 2001. Under her leadership, the Preschool grew three times its size, program offerings expanded, and the Preschool received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The program serves families in the Natick community and surrounding towns.
Teresa believes that a preschool education is most effective when achieving a partnership among parents, teachers, and administration. She attributes the success of the Preschool to the wonderful, professional teaching staff, caring families, and support from the Board of Directors and church community.
Teresa studies earnestly to master the wisdom of early childhood education. She devotes her time to her husband and children as well as extended family. She enjoys reading, writing, traveling, hiking, meditating and visiting museums and art galleries.
